I was sad to hear about Rodeo passing away. I seen Chad Parham at the gym and he gave me the bad news. Everyone who has ever worked the arena over the years owes some thanks to this man. I venture to say the arena would not have survived in the early years if it wasn't for Rodeo and his family. Ray and I could not do it all so Rodeo volunteered to help out anyway he could. He wore the title "head of security" like a badge of honor. Sure not for money just the love of the business. In memory of Mike I thought I would tell the story of how he got his nickname Rodeo. Way back in 1999 Ray and I were at the very first training night at the arena when a stranger walked in. He told us his name was Mike Canup and he was a former wrestler from years ago. He just wanted to help with the shows if we needed any. So we took him up on his offer. Ray ask him to tighten the ropes or something to the ring and Mike reply "this ain't my first RODEO" Rest in peace, Rodeo Steve Martin
