NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling results for Dec 18th, 2011
.by Daniel Lee Lumm on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 8:02pm.Matches were timed by Avery Edwards for this review. The turnout for the show was mid 70’s to 80’s. Rampage Pro Wrestling has added a brand new banner behind the ring to the Rampage Arena which looks good from the tower camera. Also noteworthy is RPW’s new energy drink, Verve, was introduced to us before the show and will now be sold at concessions. Ben Masters announces that the NWA World Title Match pitting “Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce against Kyle Matthews will be 2 out of 3 falls with a 60 minute time limit.
The show starts with Ben Masters introducing Adam Pearce to the ring to cut a promo. He talks trash about Kyle Matthews and the crowd for supporting him. He says he respects the late “Nightmare” Ted Allen who trained Matthews, but no amount of training from him will allow Matthews to take the 10 pounds of gold from around Pearce’s waist. It’s at this time when Miss Allie is introduced by Ben Masters and we get the first match going.
AJ Steele & Murder One defeat CB Gibson & Tommy Daniels via pinfall at 4:48
Referee: Dustin Robinson
Gibson starts with a quick offensive but AJ takes over with raw power. The Suspects demolish Daniels and Gibson throughout the match, even utilizing some heel tactics in the process, especially leaving pinfalls unfinished to deal more damage. The match ends with AJ and Murder laying out both Daniels and Gibson and pinning them both, one on top of the other.
“Marvelous” Michael Stevens (w/ Anthony Andrews) defeats Officer Chris Jacobs via pinfall at 3:26
Referee: Stan Robinson
The match starts with Andrews distracting Jacobs and Marv taking advantage. Utilizing this tactic, Marv gains the win with a Double Knee Gutbuster.
6-Man Tag Match with Rampage Rules
Mike Posey & Corey Hollis & “Do or Die” Chip Day defeat Frankie Valentine & Drew Adler & Anthony Henry via pinfall at 15:44
Referee: Dustin Robinson
Jimmy Rave Approved start off with a short promo saying that they will show that they are the best multi-man tag team in professional wrestling and that Jimmy Rave’s suspension will not discourage them. The match kicks off with Valentine’s team isolating Posey with some impressive technical wrestling and constant tags. The Approved seem a lot more content with utilizing the Rampage Rules to tag out as opposed to actually tagging each other. The tables are turned when Approved manage to isolate Henry in the ring and deal punishment to him with his partners looking on. The crowd was very alive through this match. Everyone makes their way into the ring taking each other out until there’s literally nobody on their feet. Approved manages to pull off the win by isolating Valentine and finishing with their triple finisher from the top ropes, Corey landing landing a headbutt, Chip following up with a knee drop, and Posey finishing with the leg drop and pin.
J-Rod & Sal Rinauro defeats Cru Jones & Shaun Banks via pinfall at 12:24
Referee: Stan Robinson
J-Rod goes into this alone since Ace Rockwell, his scheduled partner, couldn’t make it to the show. Lava is noticeably sporting some questionable attire, 2 jingle bells attached to the front of their tights. Lava spends most of the match just wearing down J-Rod and tagging each other in, with plenty of trash talking from Cru Jones. Sal rushes out to the ring to become J-Rod’s tag partner and does a good job at evening the odds in his casual clothing. Eventually Hot Like Lava regains control of the match and start isolating Sal in the ring. In the end the match goes to J-Rod and Sal with J-Rod landing the knee on Cru for the pin while Sal held Banks back. After the match Lava threw out Sal and started attacking J-Rod, but Sal grabbed a steel chair and rushed back in to chase them out.
Mikael Judas defeats “Hit for Hire” Bobby Moore (w/ Charlie Cash) via pinfall at 8:51
Referee: Dustin Robinson
Moore is very hesitant to step in the ring with Judas to start off the match. Moore is quick to do trash talking whenever he gains the advantage as usual. After helping Moore get away from Judas, Cash is stalked around and into the ring and caught before Moore comes in to save him. Moore keeps Judas down by focusing on his knee, which seems to be quite effective through most of the match. Judas pulls off the win with a Chokeslam followed by El Crucifijo. After the win, Judas is attacked by Rob Adonis, who smashed Charlie Cash’s cane over his knee, and the Heavyweight Champion, Jeremy Vain. The Usual Suspects rush in to make the save. Referee Dustin Robinson prompted to start the next match immediately.
NWA Rampage Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Championship Match
AJ Steele (w/ Murder One) defeats “Untouchable” Jeremy Vain (w/ Charlie Cash & Rob Adonis & Bobby Moore)(C) via disqualification
Referee: Stan Robinson
Vain makes regular attempts to duck and dodge AJ. It’s a bit of a oddity that Referee Stan Robinson allowed all of Cash Vault to stand at ringside for Vain. The crowd was chanting for AJ through this match as he kept wearing down Vain. AJ ended up utilizing a lot of submission holds in this match with Cash Vault making attempts to keep Vain near the ropes. Outside of the ring we had Murder One and Cash Vault getting into a lot of standoffs, with Murder One eventually getting a steel chair from a fan. Eventually they use the numbers game to distract the ref and attack AJ with Murder One being held back by the ref to stop them. AJ finally revs up and starts tearing Vain up. Right after AJ finishes off Vain, Adonis runs in to break the pin prompting a disqualification. After the match a brawl breaks out, with Judas running in and spitting red mist into Adonis’s face and Suspects beating down Bobby Moore. Murder One, AJ Steele, and Mikael Judas clear the ring and celebrate.
Best 2 out of 3 Falls Match for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship Match
“Scrap Iron” Adam Pearce (C) defeats Kyle Matthews at 20:46
Referee: Dustin Robinson
Pearce starts off by leaving the ring to rip up a sign that one of the fans were holding. He takes it a step further by getting the mic and talking trash to the crowd and go off on a kid who threw trash at the ring. Pearce leaves the ring and takes the belt with him and loses the first fall by count out at 4:34. After the first fall and 30-second rest period, Pearce is still absent from the ring and waited for a bit to finally come out again. He said if they don’t force the kid who threw trash at the ring to leave, he wouldn’t defend the title. Bill Behrens comes out to say that the match has to restart the match since Count-Outs cannot be a determining factor in a title match. The match was restarted after 7 minutes in. Pearce starts this fresh slate with a much more aggressive attitude. Kyle comes back quickly with a surprise Super Kick and caught an early first fall at 30 seconds. After the first fall Pearce takes control and starts really wearing down Matthews. Kyle gains momentum and the fans pop. When it looks like a new Champion could be crowned, Jeremy Vain came out to distract Matthews, giving Pearce enough time to deliver a boot and roll him up, grabbing tights for the second fall at 9:59. The third fall had a lot of near falls by both competitors but it finished with Peace planting Matthews with a Lariot. After the match, Pearce shook Kyle’s hand before delivering a Piledriver. Kyle was left in the ring with Sal Rinauro, Frankie Valentine, and referee Dustin Robinson trying to help him.
